Meet The Team - Terri-Lynn Rimmer - Senior Frontend Developer

This week we are introducing one of our newer team members, Terri-Lynn! She is an programming guru and adrenaline junkie with all kinds of cool adventures under her belt. We're thrilled to have her join the CoLab team!

We’re excited to welcome you to the CoLab family, Terri-Lynn! Tell us a little about yourself.

Hello World.  I’m happy to be here.  I am an adrenaline junky.  I’ve skydived in Australia, jumped off the tallest tower in the United States, shot a grenade launcher, pet creatures larger than me in the wild, caught snakes, went on the fastest zippiness in Hawaii, raced exotic cars, motorcycles, go karts, and quads.  I am still looking for someone to rent another fighter jet at “Ace Sky Combat” so we can stunt/chase.

How did you first get into programming?

As far back as I can remember, I liked dance rhythms and algo-rhythms.  The coder won over the Ryerson University dancer.  I realized young I could be the 1989’s “Midnight Rescue!” detective forever if I was a programmer.  In the 90s, my lunch periods were spent making grandfather and “Goosebumps” inspired choose your own adventure games in QBasic.  NIBBLES.BAS was also a favorite (Good ol’ Sammy).  After high school, I picked up soldering and started making robots with Atmel chips.

You’ve been here for a few months, how are you enjoying working at CoLab?

When I saw the technology stack I was over the moon.  I’ve always loved exploring new fields with this career.  Having a preexisting love for CAD has definitely added to the enjoyment factor and feeds my detectiving skills.  I am forever grateful for CoLab and the quality people it has attracted.  I feel me and my peers have a voice and are respected.  There are thoughtful role models with welcoming, go get ‘em attitudes here.  Ones with quick minds that are eager to absorb information.  I look forward to watching us all grow.  I couldn’t have landed in a better place.

If you had to be shipwrecked on a deserted island, but all your human needs—such as food and water—were taken care of, what two items would you want to have with you?

My motorcycle and gas. I hope there are twisties.  BRAAAP!!!
