Tell us a little about yourself, Anna!
I’ve never eaten a fast food hamburger. I don’t like sports where I have to do something specific with something specific, so I prefer trail sports for that reason. I was a high school and junior high teacher for a very short time and decided that business was more my jam. When I worked at a cigarette store, the store was robbed and I threw a box of product at the robber’s head on his way out the door (not recommended). I make really good moose ramen.
How did you first get into customer success?
I worked at Verafin when they transitioned to the cloud and to a SaaS model. A salesperson by trade, my job at the time was to work with customers to “sell” them on the cloud and get them into a SaaS contract. That morphed into doing renewals on those SaaS contracts, as purposeful renewals never happened prior to that point. Then Verafin established customer success so I was around for the beginning of that movement. In my next role at Telelink, I was responsible for building the customer success division at the company so I had a lot more responsibility over all aspects of the customer journey.
Why did you first join CoLab and what are you most excited about?
Adam Keating and I were neighbours in Mount Pearl and our moms are on a texting basis, so I was always getting updates about what impressive things Adam was up to! Having worked at Verafin in the past, and with Newfoundland and Labrador’s super interesting and ever-growing tech sector, I paid attention to CoLab’s successes. Software is appealing to me due to its fast-paced, high-growth nature—and I’m so happy I’m here!
If you had to be shipwrecked on a deserted island, but all your human needs—such as food and water—were taken care of, what two items would you want to have with you?
I’m a huge Survivor fan so this question is right up my alley. If the human needs covered do not include a fire source and fishing gear, then those two things. If they are covered, then I’d want my dog Luna—she’s a saluki-lab mix from Qatar and I adopted her last March. I’d also want two pillows so I can sleep comfortably.
