The validation burden is the review and evaluation work that generative design creates downstream. Because generative tools produce candidate designs at volume, each candidate still needs to be assessed for manufacturability, tolerancing, supplier constraints, and assembly fit. In many cases, generative outputs are geometrically optimized but impractical to manufacture, meaning engineers spend significant time filtering and correcting rather than designing. AI design review tools, by contrast, analyze the same artifacts engineers already produce and provide structured feedback against defined criteria — a familiar cognitive model with a lower learning curve and shorter path to measurable time savings.
